Accessing the monkeypox (MPXV) vaccine
Update – the initial supply of the monkeypox vaccine has been used. Please register your interest and you will be contacted as more vaccine arrives in NSW in October 2022 and early 2023 and if you are eligible.
If you have already registered your interest, there is NO NEED to register again. We will be in touch as more vaccine becomes available in NSW if you’re eligible.
NSW Health has worked with the Commonwealth Department of Health to secure a limited amount of monkeypox vaccine for people at highest risk of infection. We expect to receive up to 30,000 doses at the end of September 2022 and up to 70,000 doses in early 2023.
When you register your interest, you will be asked a series of questions to determine your eligibility for the vaccine. If you are not eligible, you’ll be contacted by NSW Health when you are.
Please complete this online form if you are:
- A gay, bisexual, or other man who has sex with other men, or a trans or gender diverse person who has sex with gay or bisexual men.
Priority for the vaccine will be for those at greatest risk including those who have booked travel overseas to Europe or North America before 31 October 2022 and will have multiple sex partners while overseas. You may be required to show proof of your travel booking.
Whilst one dose offers some protection against monkeypox, the vaccine will not be fully protective until at least 2 weeks after the full vaccine administration (after the second dose).
The monkeypox vaccine does not prevent all infections. As there is still a risk of infection following vaccination, it’s important to take preventive action and be aware of monkeypox symptoms. More information is available on the NSW Health website.
Please answer these questions honestly so that we can keep our community safe.
Completing this online form is not a booking and does not guarantee you access to the vaccine.
